Mike was born here in Anderson on  Oct. 29, 1942, Anderson Memorial Hospital, Anderson, South Carolina.  He is the son of Loy and Inez Vandiver, both deceased.

Education:

Mike graduated from Boy’s High School  (1960) and from Wofford College (1969).   He received his Master of Divinity from Wesley Theological Seminary in 1974 and his Doctor of Ministry degree in 1994.

Military Service:

Mike began his military service (US Army) in 1966 and was honorably discharged in 1969.  He attained the rank of Specialist 5th Class.

FAMILY:

Mike and his wife, Donna, were married in 1969.  Donna graduated from Converse College, Spartanburg, S. C., in 1965 and has taught  in the public schools in Virgina and South Carolina.  She has taught violin privately and was in charge of the strings program in Berkley County.  She presently sings in the choir at St. John’s United Methodist Church and plays violin in The Anderson Community Orchestra.

Mike and Donna have two children and three grandchildren.

Co Founder of Mission Possible:  Takes 15 young people from S. C. Conf. Of United Methodist Church to a 3rd World country for two weeks and then brings 15 young people from that country here for two weeks.
