Why I decided to run for County Council…..AGAIN!!!!!

Welcome to my web page! I hope your visit means that you are interested in supporting my campaign for the District 5 seat on Anderson County Council in the Nov. 2012 General Election. I have appreciated the support I received in the 2010 campaign and look forward to representing the citizens of District 5 on County Council this next term. My decision to run for this office again is based on my continuing desire to see us move Anderson County forward. Three of the main concerns I had in 2010 are STILL on the table: (1)Our District 5 representative continues to support the spending of money for the so called “investigation” which has resulted in $1.5 million in hopes that we might get a return of $1 million. That is bad economics, bad politics and bad for the citizens of our county. (2)I am in favor of us getting a permanent County Administrator NOW!!!! If the current acting Administrator is interested, let him apply. If not, we need to get someone who is interested and who will go to work for us on day one to move our county forward. (3)The majority of the present Council continues to support giving extremely generous tax breaks to very large companies so they will either locate here or expand present facilities. This places an additional tax burden on our citizens. I believe these companies are far more capable of paying their fair share of taxes than are our local citizens, many of them natives of Anderson, who desire to start a small business in Anderson County but who get NO tax break to do so.
